Comfort Zones

This week has taught me to always remain optimistic about taking on new creative projects. An ability attributed to a Tractor design school brief dating back to 2012. The Student Profile Brief.

For this brief, fellow classmate Jamie & I, were assigned one another to design and construct each other's life recount in the form of a magazine's "feature" article. This was not going to be easy, considering our styles could not have been further apart in the aesthetic spectrum of design.

This project successfully challenged our versatility as designers. It demanded strategy, approach & implementation to suit the personality of another classmate. (Much like a real life client) Forcing us to generate high end design, in a style which seemed outside our realm of creativity, and thus miles away from anything closely resembling a comfort zone.

Upon completion, I believe we both learnt a valuable lesson; taking a leap into uncharted design territories, assist in one's creative development. Maybe subconsciously that was the reason why this is my only Uni project which consistently remains in my professional working portfolio.
